Dick’s Market Gives $30,000 to Davis County Schools

        For decades, Dick’s Market has been the number-one contributor to Davis County schools. Dick’s Market recently showed its commitment by presenting a $30,000 check to a group of local school children on Wednesday, March 21 at 10 a.m.

       One of the unique aspects of the donation is that schools are able to use the funds at their discretion. Past donations were used to purchase new books, computers, scoreboards, playground equipment, marquees and many other important additions.

     “We have designed this donation with the goal of providing needed assistance to our local schools,” said Dave Wirthlin, Dick’s Market vice president. “Dick’s Market is extremely dedicated to the community and we live in the neighborhoods we serve. Our children attend the same schools and we want to do our part to strengthen our neighborhoods.”

        Part of the contribution also provides for the Davis School District Teacher of the Year Awards, sponsored by Dick's Market. This year, the teacher of the year, classified employee of the year and special education teacher of the year will all receive substantial monetary awards as part of their recognition. (The awards will be presented at a “Hall of Fame” event in May.)

        “This is the largest single donation to schools that the Davis Education Foundation receives from a retail business; the impact on schools in incredible. It allows us to provide materials to improve both instruction and extracurricular activities. We are grateful for the support of Dick’s Market,” said Superintendent W. Bryan Bowles.
